  1. Puncak Jaya (4,884 m)

Puncak Jaya or Carstensz Pyramid is the highest summit of Mount Carstensz in the Sudirman Range of the western central highlands of Papua province, Indonesia.

At 4,884 metres or 16,024 ft above sea level, Puncak Jaya is the highest mountain in Indonesia, the highest on the island of New Guinea, the highest of Oceania , and the 5th highest mountain in political Southeast Asia. It is also the highest point between the Himalayas and the Andes, and the highest island peaks the world.

Access to the peak requires a government permit. The mountain was closed to tourists and climbers between 1995 and 2005. As of 2006, access is possible through various adventure tourism agencies.

2. Puncak Mandala (4,760 m)

Puncak Mandala is a mountain located in Papua, Indonesia.

At 4,760 metres or 15,617 ft, it is the highest point of the Jayawijaya Range. Following Mount Carstensz (4884 m) 350 km to the east, Mandala is the second highest freestanding mountain of Oceania,Australasia, New Guinea and Indonesia.

Puncak Mandala is the highest peak in the Star Mountains and had an ice cap until very recently. Apparently, the usual trek to the peak begins in the village of Bime to the north of the mountain and follows hunting trails up a reasonably gentle incline. The first expedition to the summit on the route was made by a Dutch group in 1953. However, the approach sounds very difficult indeed – one Australian expedition failed to reach the mountain on this route in 1996.

  1. Puncak Trikora (4,750 m)

Puncak Trikora, until 1963 Wilhelmina Peak, is a 4,750 m or 15,584 ft high mountain in the Papua province of Indonesia on New Guinea.

It lies in the eastern part of the Sudirman Range of the Maoke Mountains. Behind Puncak Jaya, it is either the second or third highest mountain on the island of New Guinea and the Australasian continent.

Puncak Trikora is the most accessible of the 3 tallest mountains in Papua. The starting point for Trikora is the Dani town of Wamenain the BaliemValley– from where you can see the peak it self in clear weather. You can fly from Jakarta to Jayapura and then take a local flight to Wamena. From the BaliemValley, there is a trekking route up to Lake Habbema(3,300m) and on to Somalek cave. Both of these places are suitable for camping. There was a glacier on the summit ridge until the 1960s. A rope and rock-climbing skills are needed to reach the very top of the peak. As is the case with most peaks in Papua you need a government permit and at least a week for a serious attempt at reaching the summit.

Kerinci mountain is located in Kerinci regency, Jambi Province. Kerinci mount is active vulcano, with an altitude of 3805 masl. The mountain is the highest mountain inIndonesia outside the mountains of Irian Jaya. In the east side is alakeBento, the highest clear watery swamps in Sumatra.

Behind the Kerinci mount there is seven mountains are very beautiful. In the middle of the park there are gaps sungai penuh valley city, coffee plantations, tea plantation and lake Kerinci. The area of kerinci mountain is included to national park that was call Taman Nasional Kerinci Sebelat (TNKS).

This mountain can be reached from Padang, Jambi, and Bengkulu. the international flight can be landed in Padang. West Sumatera, because inPadang there is a international airport, it’s called BIM (Bandara Internasional Minang Kabau).

  1. Gunung Rinjani (3,726 m)

Mount Rinjani is a mountain located on the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Mountain which is the second highest volcano in Indonesia with an altitude of 3726 m above sea level and lies in latitude 8 º 25 ‘latitude and 116 º 28’ BT is a favorite for mountain climbers Indonesia for its beautiful scenery. This mountain is part of Mount Rinjani National Park which has an area of about 41,330 ha and this will be proposed the addition to be 76 000 ha to the west and east.
Administratively, the mountain is located in the territory of three districts: East Lombok, Central Lombok and West Lombok.

  1. Gunung Semeru (3,676 m)

MountSemeru, is a volcano located in East Java, Indonesia. It is the highest mountain on the island of Java. The strato volcano is also known as Mahameru, meaning The Great Mountain. The name derived from Hindu-Buddhist mythical mountain of Meru or Sumeru, the abode of gods.

Mythology :

Semeru is named from Sumeru, the central world-mountain in Buddhist cosmology and by extension Hinduism. As stated in legend, the tale is recorded in the 15th-century East Javanese work Tantu Pagelaran. It was originally placed in the western part of the island, but that caused the island to tip, so it was moved eastward. On that journey, parts kept coming off the lower rim, forming the mountains Lawu, Wilis, Kelut, Kawi, Arjuno and Welirang. The damage thus caused to the foot of the mountain caused it to shake, and the top came off and created Penanggungan as well.

Mount Slamet or Gunung Slamet is an active stratovolcano located in Central Java, Indonesia. It has a cluster of around three dozens of cinder cones on the lower southeast-northeast flanks and a single cinder cone on the western flank. The volcano is composed by two overlapping edifices. Four craters are found at the summit.
